For whatever reason, automotive enthusiasts love a wagon. Cram a V8 engine under the hood and pair to a manual gearbox, though, and you have something from a car guy’s daydream.
If we’ve described anything that appeals to you, Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale has one machine that ticks each box. The 1985 Pontiac Trans Am Kammback concept comes swinging from the hairspray era with a 5.0-liter V8 engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission and a notched off rear-end to make it a true wagon.
General Motors commissioned the Firebird Trans Am Kammback following the Camaro Kammback concept and Pontiac Trans Am Type K after requesting a successor to the Chevrolet Nomad of yesteryear. Unfortunately, even the highly-regarded Trans Am name couldn’t usher in a performance wagon for the era.
But, you can own this one. It may be just the thing if you think a CTS-V wagon is a tad too mainstream these days.

A NOTE TO GM:. Why would you not consider bringing back the PONTIAC body style , and the PONTIAC Motor Division . My father God rest his soul was a stanch lover of Pontiac ‘ S he had one of the first Tempest four cylinder , bought it for my Mother it had bucket seats console auto shift ,she loved that car. The first PONTIAC I remember clearly was a blue and white 58 Starchief Convertible . I would have to guess but ,in his life time he had probably 30 or more different Pontiac ‘s he would trade up to a new one every 3 yr’s .
I my self had my first PONTIAC in 1966 , a teal green top two door coupe ,white on the bottom, with the double overhead cam Straight 6 ,four speed trans. And bucket seats.
I have a1973 and1/2 GTO BLACK 2 door coupe ,400 big block four barrel carb , which I plan on restoring soon , My daily driver is a 2004 Pontiac GTP 3.8 LITRE Supercharged V 6.
So far I have owned fifteen Pontiacs .
My oldest son has a2006 GTO which he has been constantly up grading with a supercharged LS -6 V8 ,six speed manual transmission . Completely setup for the Dragstrip .He has also had numerous other Pontiacs in his life time.
MY MAIN POINT BEING WHY ON EARTH WON’T YOU BRING BACK. THIS ICONIC PONTIAC BODY STYLE , I WILL BET MY ASS YOUR SALES PROFITS WOULD SKYROCKET. THEIR ARE SO MANY POTENTIAL PONTIAC LOVERS OUT THERE. TO TELL THE TRUTH YOU MADE A HUGE MISTAKE BY DROPPING IT IN THE FIRST PLACE .AFTER ALL IT WAS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT PONTIAC MOTOR DIV. WAS THE AUTO LINE YOU USED TO TEST NEW INOVATIVE IDEAS . SO PLEASE BRING BACK THE PONTIAC AUTOMOBILE TO THE AMERICAN PUBLIC
Yes, Bring back Pontiac and Oldsmobile. I currently own both and would buy any new muscle car from BOTH manufacturers.
Look at the Camaros used as donor cars to make a GTO Judge and a Bandit TRANS AM. Look how HOT it is. Oh, yeah, the G8 Firehawk, too …and on and on… Get with it GM.
OH and yes the Buick Grand National and GNX too!! Buick is still alive so it can be done! Oh, wait, I think they are working on it now.
You hit the nail on the head, THEN you discontinue them! WHY?!
-from a GM die hard fan who owned nothing but GM.
