Phastek Performance Flaunts The First Lowered Sixth-Gen Camaro ZL1

Phastek Performance is flaunting the first-ever, sixth-generation Camaro ZL1 with a lowered stance. Painted in Nightfall Gray Metallic, the lowered ZL1 does indeed look great thanks to Phastek lowering springs, while retaining the factory Magnetic Ride Control dampers. And despite everyone here at the office having a positive reaction to the lowered looks, we would have to feel how the drop impacted ride quality (if at all) before making any final conclusions.

That said, I personally would prefer to enjoy the mile-eating monster that is the 2017 Camaro ZL1 in its stock form for thousands of miles before tinkering with anything. And though I’m more than familiar with the feeling of maximizing performance all too well, it’s worth noting that GM/Chevrolet put a significant amount of effort into developing the Camaro ZL1, especially the suspension. And putting that front lip even closer to the ground would give me anxiety.

We’ll turn the mic over to you for further thought. Is the Camaro ZL1 good enough in factory for, or is it begging for aftermarket improvements? Speak to us in the comment section below.

  1. Too bad there isn’t a side by side comparison for us to look at. How much lower is it? That would be a good start

    1. I could say that the wheel gap appears to be about half of what it was with stock shocks, however, this is just speculation. Phastek hasn’t released this information yet.

The side-by-side is a great suggestion, I’ll see what I can do.

  2. Nothing beats a lowered car when done right. One of the many mods I have done to my Camaro SS convertible was installing lowering springs from Hotchkis. 1.25″-1.5″ is just the right height to decrease wheel gap and increase handling. My car handles like it’s on rails and the ride is similar to stock. On a different note, GM hit a homerun with the pricing of the new ZL1. ~$62k with a few options is amazing. I was expecting a lot more. When my Dad bought his ’12 ZL1 new, he paid close to $60k. GM kept the cost comparable to the 5th Gen. That is a lot of vehicle for the price!

  3. My Fiero is lower with the winter tires and about the same with the Continental Extreme D&W summer tires
