Hendrick Motorsports is responsible for some very intense builds, and the performance house has recently taken to YouTube to highlight some of its employees’ personal projects.
The latest installment features Billy Davis’ 1969 Chevrolet Camaro he received from his father. The build process has been ongoing for years, according to Davis, and the engine alone took three months to build.
Davis says the original engine was a 427 big-block V8, but the pursuit of power forced in a 496 cubic-inch V8 engine. According to the video, the 1969 Camaro is pushing well over 700 hp now.
Davis says what he likes most about his 1969 Camaro is that he knows he won’t run into another while he’s cruising down the road. And if he does, it’s likely not going to have 496 under the hood.
