Buyers of a new 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV will have the option to choose a few different ways to charge the vehicle, but General Motors has named one company in particular as its home charging partner of choice. Green Car Reports states GM has selected AeroVironment as its home charging station supplier.
“We selected AeroVironment due to their strong brand recognition, reputation for reliability, and decades of leadership in supporting EVs,” said Darrin Gesse, Bolt EV product manager, in a statement.
The home charging stations will be branded as official GM accessories through Chevrolet dealerships and sit as “level two” stations. This means an AeroVironment station will charge the 2017 Bolt EV in nine hours. The AeroVironment home charger will be a $699 accessory. DC fast charging is also an available option with the Bolt EV for $750.
The 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV will continue its nationwide rollout through 2017, with the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions on deck following the west coast.
Cadillac bought me a 240 volt home charger for my Cadillac ELR back in 2014. This $3,000 charger was included in purchase price of the car.
