Corvette Racing has retained its driver lineup of Jan Magnussen, Antonio Garcia, Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner for the 2017 season, marking the sixth consecutive year the team has held the roster.
The Chevrolet factory team says Magnussen, Garcia, Gavin and Milner will pilot two Corvette C7.R racecars in the 2017 IMSA season and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Combined, the four have over 106 wins in IMSA competition and 10 driver’s championships.
“Consistency is a key component in a successful endurance racing program,” said Chevrolet Director of Motorsports, Mark Kent. “Retaining our core driver line-up for a sixth straight season gives us the best opportunity to repeat the phenomenal results from 2016.”
In 2016, Milner and Gavin combined their efforts to win at Daytona, Sebring, Lime Rock and Road America, netting them the 2016 IMSA GTLM driver’s championship and bringing Corvette Racing to a team championship. Garcia and Magnussen also finished third in the driver’s standings and took a win at Virginia International Raceway.
“It was a great season for us with four victories, a number of podiums and of course sweeping the GTLM championships,” Gavin said. “You have a little more spring in your step coming into a new season on the back of one like we had in 2016. You feel confident. I hope that’s the way it carries over into 2017.”
Corvette Racing will participate in IMSA sanctioned pre-season tests at Daytona on December 13th and 14th before the 2017 season kicks off at the end of January.
