If you’re not digging any gift suggestions from Opel this holiday season, how about something involving Corvette? RACER has highlighted a new Corvette C7.R slot car that has us freaking out how well detailed it is.
The slot car comes from Carerra Digital, which sells race-ready slot car tracks, including the Corvette one you see above. There are all sorts of accessories you can purchase for the track and cars, too. Some include a pitlane fueling feature, start lights, wireless 2.4 GHz controllers (with a 50ft-plus range), lap counter and an app for race management. Yeah, it’s pretty legitimate.
If we were 10 years old again, we’d be writing Santa every day for this set. Hell, we’ll still take one. We’re young at heart.

Wow, the hours I spent in my childhood using slot cars. Great times! Guess you’d have to buy 2. One to race and one to just look at.
I have a Carerra layout. I made it up from two sets and made my own layout it is a blast. We have it on a large table in the basement and I have Astro Turf for the grass.
No need to have one to look at as the cars hold up pretty well. Also there are some even more detailed cars out there from Slot It. I have a couple from them and they are a blast. I treasure my 962 Lowenbrau car as I remember being there watching it race at Mid Ohio.
I have a couple of the Pratt and Miller Corvettes that are the C6. I still need to get the C7 models.
Yeah, you can’t go wrong with Carerra! I think I’ll get a couple C-7s myself! I’m glad this came up!
And thanks for the astro turf idea! I’m using 2 sets too. What did you do for controllers, or did you find a way to hold the little things?
I used Cox, Revell, and Monogram products back in the 60’s when there were slot car tracks in every town with 3 huge tracks. Places were HOT for several years. Sometimes you’d have to wait for track time.
