The current Chevrolet Traverse has seen two different presidents. That’s how far the current Traverse stretches back to. But, as the saying goes, don’t fix it if it isn’t broke.
Chevrolet will finally unveil the all-new 2018 Chevrolet Traverse on the C1XX platform, or Chi, at the 2017 North American International Auto Show after years of service from the first-generation Traverse on the aged Lambda platform.
And since we have confirmation the large crossover will be in attendance, we want to hear what you would like to see from the 2018 Traverse when it’s unveiled in a few short weeks.
Foremost, Chevrolet says it will have a segment-best third-row legroom figure, something very important to buyers in this segment. Not only will passengers be comfy, but it means there will be plenty of cargo room. So, let’s assume cargo space and roominess will be present.
We’d like to see the Traverse take on a much more upscale look, knowing this is Chevrolet’s flagship people mover. And we’d appreciate a fresh take on the exterior design, too. The rounded rear end of the current Traverse makes it not so secret the vehicle is truly a minivan at heart. We think we’ll see that design departure here.
We certainly expect to see V6 power remain for the large crossover, but we wouldn’t be surprised if weight savings add a four-cylinder turbocharged engine to the mix for greater fuel efficiency. Maybe a diesel will even make its way into the powertrain mix.

Would like to see the hybrid drivetrain that’s in the Malibu as an option. The technology should be a Chevrolet trademark.
Agree with that. Something you don’t plug in so it’s easier on everyone, the current one gets horrible mileage if it went from say 16 to 27 mpg that would be impressive
Faster acceleration, more power,way better looks, better interior room than Pilot. Also standard roof rack and a good AWD system would be nice.

It’s over Buttercup. The quicker you get used to it the better next 4 years of your life will be.
Styling that doesn’t blow right from day one. Less happy Mazda / soccer mom, more capable / edgy / combat ready. Basically lean GMC, Explorer, Jeep. Know it will look like every other *** **** Chevrolet though and that it won’t break one bit of new ground.
A more truck like look.
To be honest, I’d rather GM bring over the Colorado-based Trailblazer and give THAT a more truck-like look.

There already have truck-like looking SUVs: Tahoe and Suburban – though those are even bigger than Traverse (especially Suburban), are body-on-frame, have V8 and are way more expensive than Traverse.
So it can be a poseur?
An EREV Traverse will sell well, since many Volt owners do have a second vehicle for cargo or more passengers.
I’d like to see “Volt” as a trim level on all Chevys
Diesel and/or hybrid as my wife has been asking for one and I just cannot justify the crappy gas mileage of the current one. The new GMC Acadia is nice, but the size and gas mileage do not match our needs like a hybrid highlander would.

Traverse it a “people mover on a budget”, so, obviously, “luxury” 3.0 TT engine won’t make its way into Traverse 🙂
I personally think it will be just their new 3.6 V6 LGX engine, and that’s about it.
Chevy is no Mazda – I think, they won’t bother putting four cylinder turbo (like LTG engine) into three row larger crossover, like Mazda did with the new CX-9, and naturally aspirated 4 cylinder 2.5 won’t be enough for new Traverse, which is expected to be bigger (and, thus, heavier), than the new Acadia.
I have driven the current Traverse and have been impressed with everything except for the quality of the interior. I would very much like to see the interior design and color choices upgraded…alot
That’s what Enclave is for – it has way nicer (though now really dated) interior, and exterior as well (Enclave, however, is way more expensive than Traverse).

I would say, real Chevrolet’s flagship people movers are Tahoe and Suburban, and Traverse is a good compromise on a budget.
The new V6 will be fine; fully up to date safety electronics; decent AWD system; PLENTY of ROOM in 3rd Row and Luggage, 10 speed trans would be icing on the cake!!!
Even though they might be 200-300 pounds lighter than the previous design Traverse and Acadia, any kind of hybrid Traverse is silly, they are just too heavy and are used for too many long road trips for battery power or 4 cylinder of any variety. If the new Traverse is used as a Mommy-van local, 35 mph depot hack, then batteries and 4 cylinders might be ok, but IMO these are too often loaded up with people, luggage, canoes, bikes, skis, etc, etc and taken at 75-85 MPH long trips (we leave at 6 am for our 9 hour run from Mobile, Al. to Charlotte, NC, then after Christmas off to Reading, Pa then back to Mobile for New Year!
Just to charge up a battery Traverse would require adding 2X the number of days!

I would like a notification when people (kids!!) do not have their seat belts on in the second or third row seats! Why is this not a thing yet?!
I hope not! How would the vehicle know if it’s a kid on the seat, or a dog, or a box of something? I already get chimes going off when I put my lunch, or a grocery bag that’s too heavy on the passenger seat. I don’t need something like that for the back seats too. GM is already putting a reminder to check your back seat into vehicles now, which seems pretty unnecessary to me.
You must eat a heavy lunch. I’ve never had any issues with items on my front passenger seat fooling the system. I think Melissa’s idea is a good one. Maybe there could and should even be an override. You would be surprised what kids do when you’re not paying attention.
I drive a traverse. We have taken it on long road trips and towed small trailers too. For new traverse I would like a better interior. The placing of seal belts locks on the middle row seats are very very uncomfortable. They could be placed 2 inches outwards and that would made sitting and buckling a lot easier.
SD card readers please! So I don’t have to constantly be worried about music player being charged
More wider grills in front and wider brake lights. A more boxier shape would look nice too

Cherokee? Remember the SS Tahoe, maybe too big but lots of tight power. The Traverse is the right size for a large sport ute, a little bigger than the Cherokee, if not a 5.3, maybe the 4.3 EcoTech V6 with the twin turbocharger?

Rear slider doors, like the Mazda5. Yes, dangerously treading into minivan territory and floor height is an issue, but buyers like me are seriously cross-shopping this with the Pilot/Highlander, all the while the arrival of the new Odyssey and Sienna are looming. It would make getting the younger one’s in the car a lot easier, as well as making the third-row more accessible for additional passengers, as well as more useful. Or just resurrect the Astro!
