The GM Authority Take
The Chevy Trax continues to prove the strength of the subcompact crossover segment in the United States. It was the second vehicle in the segment (after the Nissan Juke), with other automakers such as Honda with the HR-V following suit.
GM’s cross-town rival, Ford, has recently announced that it is planning to bring the Ford EcoSport subcompact crossover to the United States. The vehicle will compete directly with the Chevy Trax.

Comment
While this vehicle has only had so-so reviews, it has been a clear hit in the marketplace. It’s a perfect example of having a global platform and manufacturing capabilities (in this case, South Korea and Mexico) and then leveraging that to get a relatively low-cost vehicle, quickly, into the North American market.
The Encore and Trax development and production has been one of the best decisions made by GM in the past decade.
