  1. How many CT6 Hybrids have been sold?

    1. Don’t they make them in China? Not being @ nationalist, but I think I remember the CT6 hybrid(and LaCrosse hybrid) are only available in Asia??

Seems like they should offer them here if they don’t already …

  2. How do the MBA marketing geniuses sitting in their ivory towers in New York, while sipping Chai Lattés, explain that the Lincoln Continental is now outselling the CT6 without a marketing campaign at all? Is anybody at GM concerned that the Continental is basically a glorified FWD Ford Fusion with an extended wheelbase and a sad ugly face?

The article doesn’t comment but these sales numbers are a complete disaster and confirm that those boring excessive repetitive ads don’t resonate with consumers. This launch, considering the investment, is a complete failure.

    1. really?
      continental:
      sept – 775
      oct – 1.222
      nov – 1.419
      CT6:
      sept – 1343
      oct – 1316
      nov -1169
continental has significally lower price so better compare it to XTS sales:
      sept – 1948
      oct – 1464
      nov – 2653

      1. XTS is an old product which benefits mainly from fleet sales.

Both the CT6 and Continental were designed for Chinese market specifications and are direct competitors. My point is the Continental was launched much later than the CT6 and despite any advertising and low inventory is outselling the CT6. The boys on Autoline also commented on this pointing out the surprisingly high price of the Continental.

If price was the issue, how do you explain that the ATS and CTS are nailed to showroom floors, despite high incentives.

      2. Lost and confused as to why anyone is comparing a CT6 to a Continental when the Continental doesn’t compete with the CT6 in any real way. It competes directly with the XTS though. The Continental is an MKS replacement which was a competitor to the XTS, barely. Had they not happened upon this idea that names sell more luxo cars (tell Lexus, BMW and Benz cause apparently the top 3 selling don’t have a clue :rolleyes) it would still be the MKS. They are even priced similar, with the XTS being a $1000 more.

BTW.. the Conti has already been seen sporting fleet letters. https://www.instagram.com/p/BM6znqxjN7E/

    2. The Continental does have a significantly lower starting price, while offering virtually the same level of luxury and quality. No doubt it’s gonna find a relatively strong customer base, appealing to mostly the geriatric crowd and those who were fond of the Town Car. Goes to show that most people simply want a large, smooth, luxury sedan; no gimmicks attached!

      1. The $4,300 Rear-Seat Pack (heated, cooled, and multi-contour rear seats, inflatable rear belts, and a panoramic sunroof) will pamper backseat passengers on the high-end Reserve and Black Label, while the $5,000 Luxury Package will add LED headlamps and a 19-speaker Revel stereo to the Reserve trim. Standalone options include Lincoln’s “Perfect Position” seats, a $1,500 feature that adds 30-way adjustability. That’s just silly. More common features include a $1,130 Revel stereo, a $1,750 panoramic sunroof, $750 20-inch wheels, and a $335 CD player. So yeah, don’t expect many of those base prices to make it to the showroom without some swelling. By our math, the Conti tops out at a cool $82,400.

Lincoln says it’s big target for the Conti is Audi A6, and its pricing matches up neatly with that car. The front-drive 2.0-liter turbocharged A6 Premium starts at $47,125. The mid-range Premium Plus is $50,825 for the 2.0-liter turbo or $58,325 for the 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 model, and the range-topping A6 Prestige will require a check for $62,525. Lincoln also does a solid job bridging the pricing gap between the Cadillac CTS and CT6. The former starts at $45,560 and runs up to $60,950, while the CT6 runs from $54,490 on up to $65,390. Only the 400-hp Black Label will cost more than the CT6.

        1. Bob White, that article you highlighted has the title : “2017 Lincoln Continental pricing undercuts Cadillac CT6”. I agree with “J” that the Continental will sell to a lot of people who liked the Town Car (last produced in 2011), and who like “a large, smooth, luxury sedan; no gimmicks attached”.

Lincoln appears to be going back to its history as one of the top American luxury brands, and the use of a real name coincides with that desire. Smart move by Lincoln, since Cadillac is steadily abandoning the American luxury space to go after the German version of luxury. Lincoln should eventually be able to take a lot of American luxury sales that otherwise would have gone to Cadillac.

I agree that the Continental doesn’t look as nice (or original) as the CT6, but has anyone compared the ride quality of these two cars? I’ll bet the Continental has a much more plush “American style” ride, while the CT6 is probably better at jackrabbit starts and taking hairpin turns at high speeds. Which type is preferable depends on your driving style, but a lot of Americans prefer a nice smooth ride to driving like a maniac. Maybe that’s a major factor in the Conti outselling the CT6 in November, but it’s too soon to declare a winner between the two. At this point there may simply be some novelty in Lincoln with a large luxury car, but it’s good to see they are off to a strong start with the Continental. Looks like there’s room for a true American luxury brand after all, even if current Cadillac management doesn’t think so.

As to the Continental’s pricing vs. the CT6, that obviously depends on the trim level. But JdN should be proud that the CT6’s base price starts much higher than the Continental, as part of his view that high prices somehow imply higher quality/greater luxury.

          1. The Continental is clearly closer to the XTS than the CT6, both in pricing and execution. The XTS sales close to 5K units a month also.

  3. The CT6 has some good bones and although I think selling between 1200-1500 units per month in NA is where this vehicle will be it would not take much to improve on a few of it’s shortcomings such as ride quality and interior execution.

  4. CT6 still spanked by XTS sales; more than 2:1 last month alone. What gives?

    1. Price. Availability. And it has fleet contracts.. same as the new Continental. Yes.. Cadillac most likely kept the XTS going til 2018 because it saw that Lincoln was gonna come right out the gate with an Airport Shuttle called Continental

      1. With Lincoln being basically a tarted-up Ford and not even considered as near luxury, the target for Cadillac should be Mercedes. Have you seen their line-up recently? Light years away for Cadillac and profitability is through the roof.

I have yet to meet someone who aspires to own a Cadillac in the last 10 year but the desire for MB is universal.
