The GM Authority Take

The Regal’s 49 percent sales uptick in November is quite impressive, since the vehicle — now in its seventh year on the market — is beginning to show its age. To address that, we expect Buick to introduce a completely-redesigned Regal for the 2018 model year. The all-new, premium midsize sedan will share its E2 platform, design, and features with the 2018 Opel Insignia, 2018 Vauxhall Insignia, and 2018 Holden Commodore. 1. The current Regal is still a solid value, especially when deep discounts are applied. I got one almost a year ago during a 16% off promotion and serious bonus points on the GM card. The car would have been overpriced around 40k, but for just over 32, with every possible option, I can’t complain. Really well made, AWD premium car.

I am sure the ’18 will be much better, however. Even if they don’t offer a true high performance version, a strong V-6 like that in the Cadillac/Camaro lines will be great fun in that lighter, better chassis. I’ll likely keep the 2016 for about a decade anyway.
