As Promised, First 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EVs Have Been Delivered To Customers

It’s a good day for three individuals in the San Francisco Bay Area. At the beginning of 2016, Chevrolet and General Motors delivered a mighty promise to deliver the first 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EVs to customers by the end of 2016.

Today, December 13, 2016, GM has fulfilled said promise.

Customers Bobby Edmonds of Castro Valley, CA, William “Bill” Mattos of Fremont, CA, and Steve Henry of Portola Valley, CA have each taken delivery of a shiny, new 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV at Fremont Chevrolet in Fremont, CA. The three lucky individuals all have ties to electric vehicles and hybrids, too, with two of the three replacing a Toyota Prius or BMW i3 with a Bolt EV.

While the promise has been kept, it’s going to take some time before the entire nation sees the 2017 Bolt EV. For now, availability is limited to California and Oregon. GM has said it would begin to deliver additional Bolt EVs to the rest of the United States throughout 2017.

In the meantime, three Californians have one of the most highly-anticipated new vehicles in quite some time.

  2. It is good news and I agree with caddyzig and hope they sell well.

It is interesting to see all the trolls/GM haters/EV haters out there making comments on these cars. They seem to hate that this car is even available whether they are the target market or not. Of course this car isn’t for everyone and will not do everything an ICE can do but it is a great step forward in electric cars. Why can’t people just appreciate it for what it is not make constant cost/charging/range comparisons to other cars.

I remember there was a Nissan commercial for the Leaf when it first came out. They had some little kid at a gas station asking the Chevy Volt driver why he was plugging in his electric car. I thought why are you trying to compete with a car that is doing something entirely different. Seemed to me they were making fun of a car that was not really trying to meet them spec per spec.
