2017 Chevy Camaro ZL1 Chugs Gas As It Speeds To 173 MPH: Video

The fellas at Hennessey Performance Engineering must be bursting with glee, seeing as how they just took in a brand new 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 in a stealthy black finish. In this video we get to see company owner and founder John Hennessey get acquainted with the new shop car, and so far he likes what he sees.

Aside from being drawn to the aesthetics of the car, John agrees that at its price point the 2017 Camaro ZL1 is a big bang for its buck. As a preliminary test run, John brings the Camaro up to its top speed, which appears to be 173 miles per hour. Note that fuel gauge dip through the test, as the Camaro ZL1’s 6.2L LT4 supercharged V8 uses its Mega Pump to send as much high octane gasoline into the combustion chambers as possible.

If you’ve been obsessing over the 2017 Camaro ZL1 like we have, you can probably skip over John’s introduction of it, and get right into the action, which starts at the 2:49 mark.

  1. A quick top speed run with 25 miles on the odo.. I’m sure those piston rings settled in nicely. The old HPE break-in.

    1. lol, true, but then again, maybe HPE subscribes to the old “best way to break in a car is drive it like you like you like you stole it from day one”.

I know I do. 80000+ miles later and my LS2 GTO runs like it did when new.
