The Cadillac ELR is dead, and coming to replace its void in Cadillac’s lineup is the 2017 CT6 PHEV. We’ve already received pricing information for the vehicle in the United States, but now the car has a price in Canada, too.
The 2017 Cadillac CT6 PHEV will start at $85,995 in Canada when it goes on sale next spring. With the price tag comes a total range of 643 kilometers, or 400 miles, of range. The price also excludes any provincial tax incentives for electric vehicles.
The 2017 CT6 PHEV combines a rear wheel drive electric variable transmission and the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gas engine to produce an estimated total system power of 335 hp and 432 lb-ft of torque. The electric motors alone each produce 100 hp and can power the CT6 PHEV for up to 48 kilometers, or 30 miles.
Much like the U.S., the CT6 PHEV will be trimmed in a separate variant, meaning it will come much like the current Premium Luxury model among the trim hierarchy. This means the CT6 PHEV will include optional equipment such as a Rear Seat Infotainment system, Enhanced Night Vision and Rear Camera mirror as standard.
Cadillac has stated the CT6 PHEV is the first of numerous plug-in vehicles to come in the future, as it looks to standardize the option to own a PHEV.

If a hefty import tariff is imposed –or worse yet, a trade war erupts between the US & China, (where these are produced) successfully marketing this car in North America may be . . . problematic.

This car should have been a full electric. Why even bother with this version?
$33K more expensive than the base Cadillac CT6 means it will take a very long time for the CT6 PHEV pays for itself given that AAA’s average price of unleaded gas sells for under $2.50 a gallon.
