Vauxhall is under fire after multiple reports of Corsa Ds bursting into flames have been reported. The BBC reports multiple Corsa Ds, the fourth generation of Corsa, have caught fire across the United Kingdom with no apparent reason as to why.
Seven customers have reported fires from their Corsas, including Steve Cachia. He says there was a small flicker, then suddenly the car was engulfed by fire.
“It started off with a little flicker,” Cachia said. “But within six or seven minutes” the whole car was engulfed, he added.
In April of 2016, Vauxhall identified a fault in the Corsa D’s braking system, which let water in. In the end, it could mess with electronics and start a fire. Vauxhall stated it must obtain permission from the insurance companies to investigate the scorched cars.
It’s not the first time Vauxhall has dealt with car fires. The automaker has been plagued by numerous recalls on the Zafira B, which would burst into flames even after an apparent fix.
