It’s a commonality in the automotive community: built, not bought. Hendrick Motorsports has highlighted Travis Petersen, a race engineer for the #88 Chevrolet SS NASCAR, and given us a look at what he’s working on for his personal enjoyment.
If you’re a classic truck fan, you’ll be sure to love it. Petersen tells us about his 1956 Chevrolet pickup truck, which undergoes some rewiring in the video above.
He tells us rather than just replace the ignition wiring that had gone bad, he decided to take the “if I’m going to do it, I’m going to do it right” approach and rewired the entire truck. Plus, Petersen says it was the last thing that needed to be done on his completely restored 1956 Chevy truck.
Grab a closer look at the story of this truck in the video right up above.

I got to agree with Travis there’s nothing like wrenching on or driving a Classic Chevrolet. As he said anybody can drive a late model sedan or pick up for about the price of a Classic, but you just look like everybody else. Working on or just polishing a Classic is a labor of love. If I’m having a bad day all I have to do is go play in my garage or take one of the Toys for a ride, and my troubles go away. My Classic Toys include a 38 Chevy Street Rod and a 67 Chevy Step side pickup. I have had several Classic Chevys over the years and trust me there is no better way to go re-live your youth than to drive one.
