It has been one year since Opel launched OnStar in select European markets, including its cousin Vauxhall in the United Kingdom. Now, following its success, Opel will push forward into 18 new markets.
OnStar will launch in Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Norway, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Sweden with its personal connectivity and safety features. However, some features, like Wi-Fi connectivity, will be limited to Austria, Czech Republic, France, Ireland, Portugal and Romania for the time being.
It has been a very successful first year for the service in Europe, with 5.5 million interactions tallied from customers.
“The large number of interactions since the launch demonstrates how much customers appreciate the peace of mind and convenience that Opel OnStar adds to the driving experience,” said Opel CMO Tina Müller. “We are thrilled about bringing the benefits of our personal connectivity and service assistant to new customers in several countries all across Europe.”
Opel has made OnStar standard equipment on select vehicles, and optional on every vehicle in its portfolio. Customers are also treated to a 12 month free trial of the service.
