Opel CEO, Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann, says 2017 will be the busiest year in the automaker’s history. That’s because the company he oversees will launch seven new models next year.
“With these seven new models for 2017 Opel will become a completely different brand within the next 12 months,” said Opel CEO Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann. “We are making electro-mobility feasible for everyday driving with the Ampera-e. The second-generation Insignia shows a new elegance, lightness and athleticism. And with the equally new crossover vehicles in the B and C segments we are extending our portfolio in a decisive area, which will give our growth significant additional impetus.”
The seven new models include:
- Opel Ampera-e
- Opel Insignia Grand Sport
- Opel Insignia Sports Tourer
- Opel Insignia Country Tourer
- Opel Vivaro
- Opel Crossland X
- An unnamed C-segment crossover
As we reported earlier, the unnamed C-segment crossover will be a cousin to the Peugeot 3008 and be sold alongside the Opel Zafira. The Crossland X will be an all-new replacement for the Opel Meriva MPV.
It could mean big things for Buick, too. Either crossover could have potential for the Buick brand, and either the Insignia Sports Tourer or raised Country Tourer could become our long-rumored Buick Regal wagon.

Is it possible that we might see some design cues for Cadillac’s newbies . A Sports Tourer or Country Tourer , or in Cadillac’s designations XT 4 & XT 3 . An SUV that is more car like .
I dunno because two of these are being produced in partnership with PSA and therefore probably EU landlocked.
It was dumb to do anything EU exclusive as yet fads are always changing. There are no uniquely European cars anymore.
