Hot Or Not: 2017 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2

One of the many stars of the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show is undeniably Chevrolet’s return to the off-road market. The 2017 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 brings performance and off-road capability that has been missing from the brand for years. Now, enthusiasts can take solace in knowing a proper rock crawler, off-roader, daily driver pickup truck is on the way.
But, rather than dig into the engineering here, let’s talk about the design.
Chevrolet repeatedly told is it knew the production Colorado ZR2 must stay close to the original concept truck. And we think the brand delivered on that promise. However, that comes at the expense of a semi-awkward looking front clip. It almost looks as if the truck is missing something, but we think that could be remedied by a brush guard or some extra off-road goodies.
The front clip plays heavily into the approach angle and how capable the Colorado ZR2 is off the beaten path. It’s definitely forgivable considering the truck’s capability.
Elsewhere, the tires come down from 33-inch rubber to 31-inches for production, which dials down the aggressive look but not by much. Standing in front of the Colorado ZR2 reveals its intimidating presence; it looks just badass enough, and certainly will not be confused for a regular Colorado.
Overall, we think the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 is certainly a looker. But, that’s up for you to decide. Vote in our poll below and talk to us in the comment section down below.

Now they gotta built that Hi-Po Cruze!!
When’s the next Checy reveal at LAAS??
Or at least what are they going to reveal? It really just doesn’t make any sense if they just reveal the equinox as the equinox has already been revealed. Hopefully they reveal the Traverse though
I was think traverse too, should see that hopefully later tonight
But then they also revealed the Spark Activ so not too sure. I just think that re-revealing the Equinox at LA show is probably a dumb idea
I think they hit the nail on the head for what they are going for. Is it my thing? …No, and it was never going to be. If I were to own a truck, it would be more like a Canyon Denali. With the rugged looks, and seemingly serious offroad upgrades, it should be a success.
I wish they would reveal a real Cruze SS.
it looks like a good truck to take on Tacoma and upcoming Ranger. Tacoma is old and only diehard Toyotaphiles would choose it over more MODERN Chevy. Hopefully ZR2 has what it takes to outcrawl Tacoma, Ranger and Wrangler pickups in the bumpies. Chevy, use this platform to make a new Blazer, to take on Bronco, 4Runner, et al. Chevy could use a body-on-frame truck to replace Blazer/Trailblazer, no? Let someone make a business case, its not always counting beans. Chevy SSR needed a V8, but Rick Wagoner was around, and he couldn’t do anything right to save his life. He must’ve thought looks alone were enough, but in this segment, capability, rep, street cred are what its about. These trucks gotta work!! Yes, and bring back Syclone, spice up the whole Colorado line. Call it Colorado Syclone, not just Syclone, Colorado is going to have it tough once new Ranger hits the streets. You know Ranger is going to be good, Ford does know trucks. i’d like to see ZR2 with rollbar package, even more aggressive. Maybe Ford will make a Ranger Raptor. GM finally has a real leader again. Mary Barra, strut your stuff !
