Holden Placing Final Touches On Send-Off Commodore Ute

Holden is working hard to ensure the VF Commodore Series II does not go quietly into the night. In fact, it has a few special edition vehicles planned for die-hard fans before local production wraps up.

However, Wheels has learned Holden is readying the final touches on its final edition Commodore ute, which has yet to be named. The publication received a look at the forthcoming ute earlier this year and it’s expected to receive more aggressive aerodynamic tweaks and a throatier bi-modal exhaust. The same 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine will be present.

The send-off edition ute will reportedly cost $55,000 AUD and push the limit as to what Holden is capable of in-house for a performance ute. We can certainly expect Holden Special Vehicles to follow suit with a proper, bonkers HSV Maloo before all is said and done.

The send-off edition ute may be more beloved in the eyes of enthusiasts than the regular sedan; once local manufacturing ends, there will not be a replacement for the ute, while the sedan morphs into a liftback, and the sportwagon takes a more traditional wagon body.

  2. and a bigger tragedy that they were never available in USA. Almost 30 years since we had an El Camino (Ute) here. Very sad.

    2. There’s a mob in Vegas that imports VY-VZs and converts them using GTO bits. Not sure whether or not they also import VEs and VFs, though.
