Comments
It’s a good thing that ATP’s are high for the brand in a tepid economy , but what should be worrisome is their market share isn’t where it should be . the Sierra is down , Acadia sales should start gaining momentum now that the pipeline is full and Terrain’s decrease is normal for the end of an old model .
Customers feel upbeat about their incomes and are buying high end models and are willing to pay higher prices ( ex . Denali ) , but what happens when the economy slows or contracts and folks stop buying high end vehicles , TAP will slow and your market share is already down and will get worse , that leaves the door open for other brands to take over the market share .
I think what we are seeing here and same with Chevy is the Colorado/ Canyon higher end models pulling sales from Silverado/Sierra lower end models. I would think it should have been expected and GM knew full well what they were doing. A fairly loaded up 40k Canyon can’t be negotiated down nearly as much as a decontented 40k Sierra at this time.
