GMC Design Head Helen Emsley Handed The Keys To Buick Design

The Buick brand has a new figurehead for the future of design in Helen Emsley. Automotive News reports Emsley, who currently heads GMC design, has been tapped to also lead Buick design moving forward.

Emsley succeeds Bryan Nesbitt, who has head Buick design since 2015. Nesbitt will transition to a global design strategist role within General Motors.

Michael Simcoe, General Motors Vice President of Global Design, said Emsley is absolutely the right person to lead Buick moving forward.

“Helen is the right person to do it because she has this innate ability to pull a team together and all pointing in the same direction,” he said.

Emsley has had quite the upbringing within GM design after she became the lead interior designer for the 2014 C7 Corvette Stingray and for all GM trucks. She was named the head of GMC design in 2013.

  1. GMC’s design doesn’t seem markedly improved over the last three years …

maybe she’ll gave more to work with on the Buick side?

Anyway, looking forward to a new and further-improved Buick

  3. Maybe a few more changes at GM Design might help get them out of the stale evolutionary design syndrome.
