Chinese-Market Buick Velite Spotted Testing In Chicago

Buick will not let the Velite name go as once previously thought. We reported on the Buick Velite actually turning out to be a rebadged, 2016 Chevrolet Volt for China. However, it seems not all development has been undergone in China.
Reddit user Hogbelly posted a photo of the Chinese Buick Velite roaming the streets of Chicago, Illinois. The tri-color badge of Buick is clearly evident up front, but camouflage obscures any other design tweaks that may occur for China.
Power is said to be identical to the Volt’s Voltec generation two propulsion method, meaning a 1.5-liter gasoline engine will be on board.
Local Chinese outlets have already uncovered the car completely in what seem to be press release images. You can head to the link here to see those.
Buick wants to demonstrate that Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen was wrong in canceling the ELR and that there is a market for a leather clad Volt.
Consumers canceled the ELR by not buying it. The price was absurd…who was going to pay 80k for a gussied up Volt when you could have a Tesla for that price? What was worth another 40k of value over the price of a Volt?
Further, if you want a leather clad Volt, you can buy one of those from Chevrolet. It’s half the price of an ELR.
