Car And Driver Gets A Ride In The 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

There are more than a few of us eager to get behind the wheel of the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, but a ride in the passenger seat wouldn’t be so bad either. Car and Driver was lucky enough to score some seat time riding shotgun, and we’re happy to report it was a positive experience.
From the eLSD, to the rifle quick, ten-speed automatic gearbox to the snorting exhaust, the publication had plenty of kind things to say about the most powerful Camaro ever built.
Speaking of power, the 2017 Camaro ZL1 arrives with 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque from the C7 Corvette Z06’s 6.2-liter supercharged LT4 V8 engine, but with a traditional oil pan, rather than the dry-sump lubrication found in the Corvette. Packaging was important to ensure the engine fit tidy in the Alpha-based Camaro.
Much time is also spent on the highly-anticipated 10-speed automatic, which was developed in conjunction with Ford. Per the ride along, the transmission did an incredible job of keeping the engine in the powerband at all times. Even though purists will likely opt for the six-speed manual transmission, the ten-speed auto will absolutely by the transmission of choice for those looking to keep lap times at their lowest possible figure.
Check out the entire write-up right here as we await our chance to actually climb behind the wheel.
