Comments
Mostly not positive news however the most troubling is the sales volume for the XT5.
In a red-hot crossover market the model appears to be struggling. XT5 should be outpacing what the 7 year old SRX was doing last year. Even adding current SRX and XT5 volumes together does not equal what SRX was doing on it’s own in 2015.
Recently redesigned models like the Audi Q7, Lexus RX and Volvo XC90 are experiencing double and triple digit year over year increases while the XT5 falters.

Cadillac should not let this go unaddressed for to long.
Totally agree!
Hopefully the XT5 will pick up the pace in the coming months. Not sure if it’s a supply issue or just purely demand for the car. I know sometimes people wait a few months when a new car comes out so the kinks/faults are worked out of the production process.
Stellar month for the CT6. I’ve seen quite a few here in Buffalo NY!
67 days inventory on October 1.
But as Jamdown stated concerned about volumes. Realize SRX was loaded with incentives but this is a new model that should be selling in higher volumes in today’s market!
Supply should not be an issue since it has been on the markets for 6 months now. Also you would think that they would anticipate producing enough to at lease sell as much as the outgoing model when the industry is going so well overall, especially in the crossover segments.
Saw a couple of CT6’s in the flest and it really is a striking car. Pictures do not do it justice at all.
I wish they would do more with it ie. make the interior more luxurious especially in the rear and introduce the V8 model to separate it more from the Continental which is a natural comparison for most people and is getting a lot of good press right now.
If they introduce a V8 and call it it the V-Sport for example Lincoln would have nothing exclusive to match it.
Totally agree. CT6 is a great looking vehicle but Cadillac still doesn’t understand what it takes to compete.
Just for the heck of it I was configuring a Premium Luxury Turbo, hardly a cheap automobile, but it is only available with two interior colors–black and gray. A tan is offered but is only available with Radiant Silver! Come on Cadillac, to compete in this category requires lots of choices. I happen to like tan and am tired of gray and black. Tan(believe they may call cinnamon) works quite nicely with Dark Adriatic Blue, Black, Stellar Black, Iridescent White, Emerald Green, and the Bronze Metallic. So this is not a situation it doesn’t match.
I believe it is the Comfort Package Option that requires black only on some levels. This is not indicative of a luxury automobile or catering to the luxury market! Come on Cadillac, wake up!
I was doing the same thing and thought it was stupid how you couldn’t get the cashmere and maple on the luxury trim or if you wanted the quad zone climate control you had to also get the rear entertainment package, why would a 62 year old man with grown kids want 2 tvs when they will never even get used.
The problem with Cadillac Sales is the Ad Campaign !!!
Mr Ellinghaus should be reviewing the Ad Campaigns for Mercedes, BMW and Lexus.
But Cadillac is not on par with those German brand in the eyes of the buying public so using their method may not be the best answer but who knows.
Agreed. There is one MB commercial that has the car driving at night, HID/LED beams all lit up and such. Ends with “the best or nothing”. Cadillac needs to showcase its cars and SUVS and invigorate excitement
i want to know what happened to “break through” the old Cadillac slogan and the commercials where the cars are being driven fast or being shown off. the whole “millenials walking down the street in slow motion and people sitting in a car watching the rain” thing sucks!!!
This decrease has nothing to do with a problem with Cadillac management or marketing. The industry in general declined except for a few companies. BMW was down 19%. It’s an election year meaning that the economic course is somewhat hazy for the next 4 years people are going hold off big purchases especially luxury cars.
Remember that xt5 and ct6 are in fact “bailout r&d cars” meaning that they when they were developed some features had to be toned back due to strict budget. They are good cars. Are they class leading? No(maybe in structure) but they are good foundations and all Cadillac has to do is keep adding to them to improve them, which they can and I’m pretty sure they are. Don’t mistake these numbers as signs of failure at Cadillac because they are not.
Agree with the good foundation to build on but that has not been Cadillac’s method over the years and certainly not recently.
Cadillac has not been quick to refresh its models mid cycle. Take a look at the ATS which is on a great Alpha platform but has remained virtually unchanged since its debut in 2012 as a 2013 model.
Cadillac seems to only stick with the initial design until a major refresh.
