Based on a high-tech, modern and lightweight rear-drive architecture called Omega, the CT6 is the first Cadillac model ever to compete in the full-size luxury flagship sedan space that has been defined by such segment stalwarts as the BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Audi A8/S8, and Lexus LS.

Looks pretty nice.
Not a bad result considering the high transaction price of these vehicles.
Although this is the Flagship model for Cadillac it is in no way selling in the luxury car segment that was listed in the article . Not only did JDN have to admit that the CT6 was no longer the S-Class fighter as he had once hoped it would be .
The car doesn’t even come close to those other ultra luxury vehicles . It’s a bit like saying the new Continental is as much of a car .
Well, yes and no. When equipped with the base 2.0T engine, it doesn’t compete directly with the 7er, S-Class, LS, and Audi A8/S8. Interestingly, it would in Europe — as all of those vehicles are available with 2.0L turbo engines in that market. But when equipped with the 3.0L TT V-6 LGW engine and appropriately trimmed, the CT6 does compete and comes very close to them.
The Continental is below all those and is pretty much in the league of the XTS due to its FWD roots that prevent it from having a comparable driving experience with those vehicles. As for the CT6, its driving experience is as good as if not better than the Germans and Lexus, though it falls slightly short when it comes to cabin appointments and refinement.
the CT6 is a cheap out and they call it the S class competitor…its not…..and plus people arnt buying sedans these days…they are buying CUV/SUVs…..maybe in the next decade they will replace the CT6 with a CUV that’s more competitive.
The CT6 can still be successful for this decade.
When the CT6 was conceived the exodus to crossovers had not been to this extent.
A full-sized luxury sedan is still important in this market and many around the world.
the large sedan market has been shrinking for years and will continue to shrink….there are CUV/SUVs that are just as roomy as the CT6 maybe roomier that has a much shorter exterior length than the CT6….CUVs tend to be more space efficient and flexible than sedans…..I can see the CT6 being replaced by a hansom CUV in the next generation.
“the large sedan market has been shrinking for years and will continue to shrink”
Proof?
