Buick Velite Concept Leaked Ahead Of Official Reveal In China

Buick may not have followed through on what we knew as the Buick Velite years back, but it won’t let the name go to waste. The Buick Velite had been leaked months prior to show it as a rebadged, second-generation Chevrolet Volt, but the brand will show a conceptual variant before production begins.
And now, the concept has leaked, too.
A Chinese media site leaked a grainy photo of the vehicle ahead of its reveal at the 2016 Guangzhou Auto Show, which shows a decidedly more hatchback look over the current 2017 Chevrolet Volt. However, as far as we know, this is purely a conceptual design. We’ve seen photos of a production Buick Velite testing in Chicago, Illinois, wearing identical styling to the Volt.
As for the powertrain, it’s widely rumored to use the same second-generation Voltec powertrain as the 2017 Volt, meaning a 1.5-liter gasoline engine will be present along with battery power.
The Guangzhou Auto Show opens on November 18, 2016, where we will see the Velite concept completely uncloaked for good.
Where will the Velite be assembled? In China or in the U.S. and exported?
Buick’s Velite concept looks like something that the market in China would want being a sports wagon or hatchback and Velite will be manufactured in China by the Shanghai-GM joint venture because of the high tariffs China puts on all imported vehicles; this is partially the reason why Donald Trump won the Presidential election as while Hillary Clinton chattered on about how Trump was unfit to be POTUS, Trump was arguing of how cars imported from China to the United States needs to have similar tariffs applied to them so companies like General Motors would have a reason to bring jobs back to the United States.
it looks like a jellybean….I hate it.
