  1. Makes sense as weather gets colder less convertibles are sold.

  2. Convertibles not selling in October makes sense, unless you’re a snowbird getting ready for FL or AZ.

    But 361?

I have a hard time figuring to why Buick bothered to bring the Cascada over from Poland … it’s not a halo car, and after you subtract-out transportation, an expensive, C- Super Bowl commercial with (crazy) Odell Beckham Jr. and Emily Ratajkowski that ran once … and a D+ Kimmy Schmidt on-line campaign – I can’t imagine they’ve come close to turning a profit.

Neither the car nor the marketing elevates the brand. If it wasn’t for the Encore, Buick has precious little to draw people in. Maybe the new LaCrosse? Maybe?

    1. It is a filler car. It helps fill out the Buick and GM showroom by having a vehicle unique to all others and more importantly it keeps volume high at the plant in Germany that makes the profitable vehicle.

    2. Buick is more than just the Encore. Right now it is arguably GM’s best division.

Buicks reputation is getting far better. They believe in filling white space which is very smart.
There is very little competition for the Cascada as there was for the Encore when it came out

The Regal Sport Wagon will similarly fill a niche and can be profitable at very small volumes.

    3. The car helps bring in new shoppers to the Buick brand, hopefully their new to GM as well. That’s the only reason I can see why they brought the Cascada here. And Lacrosse sales are down sharply…wonder what’s going on

  3. Buick is currently the only shining star for GM in North America.
Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac are all experiencing YTD volume decreases where Buick is not.
They are ranked number one in a recent JD power survey and number 3 in a Consumer Reports reliability survey.
They are also number 3 volume brand in China and achieve yearly records for volume.

    They are doing something right.

This from a brand that was almost put on the scrap heap like Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Saturn and Hummer.

    1. No argument there. But Encore and Envision are the tide that’s lifting all boats – all I was questioning was the wisdom in a one-run Super Bowl comm’l for Escada.

But if the drop-top gives a needed cool factor injection, maybe it was a good idea.

      1. Superbowl ads are short-lived at best.
Their benefits are suspect as well. They cost a ridiculous amount of money to produce and run and show little quantifiable benefit.

  4. Purchased a blue Cascada for my wife back in February and I’ve got to say she has really enjoyed it. Heck, I even enjoy it! It is very stylish and solid, as well as surprisingly peppy. It handles well and rides well. Build quality is excellent as well. Certainly no regrets so far. The next test is winter driving.

  5. I’ve sold 5 of them personally… Overall I think the dealership has sold 10 Cascadas. All 5 of my customers love theirs. For a niche car, I don’t think 6,157 is a bad number.

We sales guys can’t believe that they don’t offer it in *red*!
