Even if you don’t reside on the west coast, where the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV will initially launch this year, that shouldn’t stop you from paying a visit to Chevrolet’s official website to build your own Bolt EV.
Yes, that’s right, the brand has brought the official configurator online for potential owners, or just EV perusers, to check out and click a few option boxes. It’s not the most exciting configurator in the world since there aren’t that many options to be had with the Bolt EV, but nevertheless, it’s here.
There are two trim options for the Bolt EV, the base LT trim and the Premier. Selecting the Premier trim grants you goodies such as 17-inch painted aluminum wheels, a leather wrapped and heated steering wheel, Surround Vision and various other active safety features. The Premier also starts at a few thousand dollars more, ringing in at $41,780. For a reminder, the Bolt EV starts at $37,495 in LT trimmings.
The only important option many should consider is the DC fast charging capability, which is $750. If the Opel Ampera-e is any benchmark, the Bolt EV should be able to replenish over 90 miles of charge in just 30 minutes via a fast charger.Otherwise, charge times are going to be a tad lengthy.

GM has posted official Level 3 stats for the Bolt EV:
“Charges the battery to 160 EV miles in 60 minutes, or roughly 90 miles in just a half hour.”
Still no official hard numbers for fast charging though.
Rumor is now the Bolt can actually charge up to a peak of 80 kW.
Those numbers are as “hard” as GM is going to get. They’re safe minimums. I doubt we’ll see real-world charge times until the first vehicles ship to dealers.
The lease price on the configurator is only thru the end of this month. Will GM update this each month? Will local Chevy dealers be able to negotiate different lease and downpayment amounts?
Does the Bolt EV come with OnStar free for the first 3 years?
5 years basic Onstar is free (so you get the Onstar app access that lets you remote start, etc…). Only 3 months for the full bells and whistles Onstar.
When will the Bolt EV be available in Mich. dealer show rooms? What are you waiting for GM????
