The 2017 C7 Corvette Grand Sport has received a lot of love, with many calling it the greatest C7 Corvette variant yet. By combining the cornering and aerodynamic capability of the C7 Corvette Z06 and the naturally-aspirated power from the C7 Corvette Stingray, the Grand Sport represents the best of both worlds.
Deservingly, AutoGuide has named the C7 Corvette Grand Sport its Reader’s Choice Sports Car of the Year. This follows the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV, which was named the publication’s green car of the year.
“For all its on-track accoutrement, the Grand Sport proves an excellent accomplice on the road,” AutoGuide.com‘s Dan Ilika said. “Spin the drive mode selector out of Track and into Sport or Touring, and the Grand Sport transforms into a grand tourer, proving comfortable enough for weekends away while still offering a plenty of performance chops.”
Recently, the 2017 C7 Corvette Grand Sport also took on the Porsche 911 Carrera S in a Head2Head shootout. You can see how the brute did right here.

I love how you call it “goldilocks” as it almost is. Where it is not, is the need for the LT1/535HP heads/cam package for a pseudo LS7 HP style NA package. IF this were standard, the GS would be awesome, and IMO destined to win the next R&T showdown. Chevy can offer this as a crate engine yet the GS is stuck with less than impressive HP/torque ratings. With the Z06 and ZR1 badges changing’shuffling from the C6, shouldn’t the GS get an LS7 style upgrade to 535HP or higher? Why not a middle of the road between the LT1 and the LT4 with a 550HP NA package? Even if you simply tack on the cost of the package ,$2500., the adjusted GS would be a real B@D@$$ @ 535HP. With no LS7 HP level model in the lineup, this to me makes sense, and not that hard to implement, IMHO.
Sounds like a great idea…………..
