SEMA 2016: Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD Alaskan Edition Previews A Snowplow Prep Package

Chevrolet is taking aim at the snowplow industry with a factory-ready, snowplow prep package. And the Chevrolet Silverado Alaskan Edition is ready for whatever amount of snow you can throw at it.

“No matter what the weather brings, Chevrolet HD trucks are designed to make the toughest jobs easier,” said Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet Truck marketing director. “The new Alaskan Edition gives customers in snow country a stronger tool for tackling the worst that winter throws at them.”

The brand states the Silverado Alaskan Edition concept previews an upcoming production truck, which will feature the same 6.6-liter L5P Duramax turbo diesel V8 engine as its Silverado 2500 HD counterpart.

For the show truck, though, the Alaskan Edition features a custom silver-accented blue exterior and grizzly bear graphics. It also features chrome bumpers, grille, emblems and trailering mirrors, along with 20-inch chrome wheels. A leveling kit ensures an even stance for the truck when the plow is attached.

Inside, Chevrolet thought it through for snow country. Rubberized flooring makes it easy to swipe away ice and snow, while Alaskan-themed embroidery gives the seats some flair.

The show truck incorporates what Alaskan Edition buyers know from the work truck and LT models currently, which includes a power feed for auxiliary lights, 220-amp alternator, underbody shield, heavy-duty front springs and more.
