Performance Accessory Parts Coming For 2017 Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback

Chevrolet played it low-key with its first of assumed many concept vehicles coming to the 2016 SEMA Show in a few short weeks, revealing the Chevrolet Cruze RS hatch Blue Line Concept and Chevrolet Malibu Blue Line Concept.
While the Malibu Blue Line is composed of mostly appearance accessories, the Chevrolet Cruze RS hatchback Blue Line does indeed house some extra performance credentials.
Debuting with the Cruze RS hatch Blue Line are a performance brake package, air intake system and exhaust system. Each package stems from official Chevrolet Performance accessories and will not void any warranty.
The performance brake kit will arrive for the Cruze by the end of 2016, bringing 11.8-inch-diameter front Duralife vented and slotted rotors and new calipers versus the stock 10.9-inch rotors for added stopping power.
As for the performance intake system, a high-flow air filter and a secondary inlet duct are present to decrease air restriction. The performance exhaust also keeps things flowing and reduces backpressure, allowing the engine to breathe better.
Both the performance air and exhaust system will arrive in mid-2017, according to Chevrolet, effectively adding a little more grunt to the Cruze hatch’s modest performance offering.

Where’s the beef? How about some noteworthy performance enhancements?
I agree. I like what I’m seeing here, but an intake and exhaust only goes so far. 8-10hp max for a solid intake and cat-back exhaust system. Perhaps, implement some dealer installed Stage kits (I-25hp increase, II-50hp increase, III-75hp increase?) that won’t void your factory warranty. Very similar to what GM did with the Cobalt SS. That would keep people happy that are really wanting a Cruze SS in the lineup.
Yeah, a big disappointment! You know, this is the first time since the Cavalier was introduced in the 70’s that GM hasn’t had a sporty econo car. This RS is a big disappointment. Can’t wait to see how the car magazines skewer it in comparison tests with the Focus RS. Wow. No Cruze for me now.
They need exactly what you said to bring back some excitement to the lesser brands. Everyone who wants performance can’t afford a corvette,Camaro or a Cadillac V.
Real performance to go with the accessorys would be nice.
Manual Transmission on the top of the line model and I’m getting one. Listen up GM!!!! I’ll sell my Civic SI and get an Orange Hatchback!
Where’s the 2.0 turbo engine?????????????????????
Just read that the blue line cruze will have 250hp 2.0 turbo
Well, don’t let Scott 3 read that, because in his world, the 2.0 won’t fit in the Cruze!
.. Too bad they’re not made in the USA.
How about an SS or at least a real RS.
Both items will come with a tune
20 hp and 30-35 hp just like on the sonic and cruze.
I have a questions here Just how many here owned a Cobalt SS Turbo? How about even the Supercharged model?
Ok how about a Cavalier Z24 V6 Anyone?
HHR SS owners?
Pontiac Sunbird Turbo? Any owners?
Fiero owners anyone?
just asking as GM has tried to offer some of these models but so few people bought them and generally they failed to make much money. To be fair many were based on cars that were not all that great of a car to start with but yet no one bought them.
Until GM can get the Cruze to where it is class leading their investment may be better off improving the models to sell and make money as a class leader period.
Now the best bet is a Opel OPC model here as a Buick as they already have a well sorted out car that could be sold in a global market like the Ford RS. But to expect GM to do a Cruze AWD Turbo and sell 5K-10K at $42,000 is just not going to happen.
Only the global market cars make money and that is why they are sold in every market. The Cruze is lacking in many markets yet as it is not a true global reach car. Many of the markets they are in would not buy a SS version anyways.
I would love to see an SS model and on the cars I listed I still own a couple of them.
This is not what I want to see but this is the reality of the segment. I the markets GM sells the Cruze there is not enough volume to make this work. Now if GM had all their new models out and their house fully in order then things can be different but they still have work to do on the regular models.
Just as the Buick Wagon that is coming if it were not for Europe there would not be one here. If you want to make a real business case a Opel based Buick OPC would be the best shot for us to get not only a performance car but one that would be worth owning.
Even cars like the GTI and ST are noting much to write home about. They are cheap but 205 HP is nothing anymore. The RS an Golf R have real performance but are $40K+ and need to be sold in higher numbers globally.
I do not state this because I hate these cars. As an owner I would love to see a world class model but the reality of it is that they are not money makers unless they are sold in higher numbers that are not easy to do in a single market model.
There is just not enough money in a single market model to make money. Just look at Pontiac. They were a single market brand for years and even with the many Performance offerings over the years they still died. If they had been in more markets we would still have them. Canada is not enough.
This is not just about making some money this is about taking what is going to make the most money. GM went broke once and they plan not to do it again. Performance models are add on sales not core sales. That sucks but welcome to the real world. There are people at GM that want these models and I hope they can find a way to make a case for them.
The GM Turbo Upgrade kit like I own would be a great start. This way you can add another 50 HP with a change in MAPS and a computer flash at the owners choice. GM and Dealers both could make money with little major investment by GM.
Man you type alot.
Never heard of a v6 cavalier, you must be a grandpa. Thinking like yours is why gm doesn’t break out of their social perception, damned beancounters and thinkers like you.
You can’t get 50hp out of just a tune on these 1.4 4 bangers, they aren’t our LNF. If you could it won’t be through the entire power band, a la trifecta.
I own a 2008 cobalt as turbo that I use for road course lapping and time attack.
This car exists already in an opc form. They just need to bring it here and change grilles a la Chevy ss. it’s opc form however is not a 2.0t. I need to dig this up.
Edit, the opc 2 door Astra does have a 2.0t.
This means mounts, exhausts et all are ready to go.
The Cobalt SS was developed and whent on to set a record for its class at the Nurburing along with the Corvette. Then did not promote. Most dealers didn’t know what one was and had never seen one when I got interested in buying one. It became a cult car for the younger generation by word of mouth. GM’s market dept failed to promote it big time.
Preach…the turbo in particular came out during their worst years at gm…and these high end card have more margin, they don’t sell at a loss at the end of the year…
