Opel has crafted quite a story for its brand during 2016. It launched the successful Opel Astra K, which has earned more than a few awards and it has been on track to produce a profit save for the Brexit speedbump.
But the Opel Ampera-e has become the latest darling of the Opel brand, itself a clone of engineering and design from the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV. Its birth has earned yet another award for the brand in AutoBest EcoBest 2016 honor.
The panel of judges deemed the 2017 Ampera-e the “right answer for shaping the future of electro-mobility in Europe” with a 500-kilometer driving range.
But, the panel didn’t merely recognize the Ampera-e, it also recognized Opel as a whole. The brand’s turnaround efforts earned it the CompanyBest 2016 award. Judges recognized “Opel’s successful turnaround under the leadership of Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann” and provided a prosperous outlook for the brand.
“We are very proud to receive these prestigious awards,” said Opel Group CEO Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann. “It shows that our models but also we as a company and the brand can convince people. So far, we have grown on 18 markets this year – that is only possible if you have a good team and the right products. The success of our bestseller, the Astra, and the groundbreaking technology of the new Opel Ampera-e are only two examples of our comprehensive model offensive.”
Opel has a healthy track record with AutoBest awards. In 2015, Opel was presented the SafetyBest award for its IntelliLux matrix lighting found on the 2016 Opel Astra K.
