Chevrolet has a few surprises for crate engine and do-it-yourself builders out there. Along with the 2017 Chevrolet Performance catalog, which features new accessories and performance parts for nearly every vehicle, two new crate engines were revealed.
First is the LT376 crate engine, found in the Chevrolet Chevelle Slammer concept, The all-new crate engine is based on the production LT1 engine found in the C7 Corvette Stingray and Camaro SS. Engineers developed a unique high-performance camshaft for it and complimented it with CNC-ported cylinder heads. When all is said and done, the LT376 produces 535 horsepower.
Next up is the SP350 crate engine. Based on the popular 350 high-output crate engine, engineers have matched it with an all-new hydraulic roller camshaft. The latest small-block intake manifold design and high-flow Vortec cylinder heads. Horsepower increased to 357 and torque jumped to 407 lb.-ft.
Chevrolet has also introduced its Connect & Cruise/E-ROD packages for the 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine. As it sits, the wet-sump crate engine is matched with the new 8L90-E eight-speed automatic transmission, but the Connect & Cruise E-ROD system takes the concept a step further. It adds catalytic converters and other emissions-related equipment to make it CARB-compliant for millions of 1996 and earlier vehicles in California.
Finally, Chevrolet has made the 8L90-E available as a stand-alone option. The eight-speed automatic will fit with the 6.2L LT1 V8 and 6.2L LT4 V8 crate engines and takes up as much space as current six-speed automatic transmissions.

Sean,
Where and or when can the 2017 catalog be downloaded?
Try here. It’s like pulling teeth with a pair of tweezers for GMA to post external links. It’s one of my few gripes about the site.

TYVM!
I’ll wait to see the pricing. GM parts are typically more expensive than 3rd party parts; however, the trade off is, you get to keep your warranty.
I’m just thinking about what I can put that connect and cruise in. Would love that 8 speed in a 60’s Impala.
