The Pirelli World Challenge Championship field heads to Monterey this weekend for the final round of the 2016 championship – and Cadillac Racing driver Johnny O’Connell will need a whole lot of luck to walk away from the weekend with the driver’s championship.
O’Connell, who’s taken four straight PWC driver’s championship with Cadillac Racing, is third in the driver’s standings, trailing championship leader Alvarao Parente by 104 points and second place’s Patrick long by 94 points. If he wish to clinch a fifth consecutive title, he’ll need to win Sunday and for both Long and Parente to post a DNF.
Qualifying for the final PWC GT race of the season will kick off on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 1:30 p.m. ET. Racing is scheduled for Sunday at 1:05 p.m. ET. Live streams of both races will be available through world-challenge.comc, with CBS Sports re-airing the race at 3:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, October 16th.
