The 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV is coming … to the west coast. Hybrid Cars reports customers have begun successfully placing orders for the Bolt EV at California and Oregon dealerships.
This follows the news of select west coast dealers beginning to see the 2017 Bolt EV showing up in computer systems for dealer allocation. In particular, at least 449 Bolt EVs have been allocated to the San Francisco Bay area.
However, it’s unclear if the Orion assembly plant has officially begun production of the 2017 Bolt EV, and we’d assume GM and Chevrolet would not miss the chance to publicize the fact an affordable EV ($37,495 before federal tax credits) for the masses has begun production.
Chevrolet has countlessly reiterated the first 2017 Bolt EVs will reach consumers by the end of 2016. Expect a nationwide rollout next year.

I put down a deposit tuesday toward second choice from the 20 random units being delivered to my local dealership. Its not an order per se as I’m choosing from pre-configured cars, not having one built to order.
Have not locked the price yet, very eager for info on actual dealer cost and the price tough negotiators agree on in coming weeks and months. My dealer knows I’m paying less than msrp or I’m walking (but how much under?). I don’t HAVE to have one of the first ones.
let us know how it goes Tom, I doubt you’ll pay under MSRP especially since you are so hot to trot, I bet they use some dealer option Jedi mind trick on you to make you think the price is right
Why do I have to wait for Ca.& Oregon to get the bolt first? I live in Mich. And it’s built in Mich. What’s wrong with G.M ? I had to wait on my 2011 Volt for the same reason ! I would like to have one before the end of this year.GM Take care of your retirees and employee and also Mich. costumers who would like to purchase a Michigan made E.V. !
The reason is CARB and GM’s dependency on EV sales to continue selling cars in that state. The more EVs GM sells in CA, the less it has to fund other manufacturers like Tesla through buying the EV credits. In other words, selling an EV in MI will simply not net enough EV credits for GM.
I am in NJ and I wonder when GM will even consider bring the Bolt here! This is a great chance for GM to take the EV market with a real car before Tesla 3 has a chance.
