Not bad considering the overall decline in large car sales. I’d suppose that new Malibu has stolen some sales given the increased size of the new model.
Barra has talked about ending Impala. I hope she doesn’t given it leads the segment; in addition, Buick will never translate a majority of Impala sales into a Lacrosse increase.
People who buy Impala like Chevrolet. Chevrolet needs a “flagship” sedan as it regains credibility in the sedan segment.
Hopefully the impala ss would replace the chevy ss.
I’m considering purchasing a 2014 Impala & based off of the overnight test drive I hope they don’t discontinue it. She’s a great looking car!
The Impala is a nice car that is struggling due to SUV sales . The Chevy Trax , Tahoe , Suburban and Colorado are all selling very well and are the money makers . I hope GM doesn’t stop production of it because they need a big car in the line-up but if sales don’t improve they may have no choice .
Current sales aren’t horrible considering the overall state of the segment. GM can turn a profit off if Impala. This becomes especially true when one considers platform sharing.
I highly doubt Kia will drop Cadensa or that FCA will LX/ future Gorgio.
Next gen Impala should be RWD to distinguish it from Malibu and LaCrosse.
I doubt that SUVs will simply replace the large sedan. Ultimately, SUV sales will level off. This will especially be true as has prices rise in a few years.
