Chevy Colorado Sales Grow 41 Percent To 10,383 Units In September 2016

Chevrolet Colorado deliveries in the United States totaled 10,383 units in September 2016, an increase of 41.57 percent compared to the 7,334 units sold in September 2015. The figures represent the truck’s best September sales performance since 2004.

In the first nine months of 2016, sales of the Chevy Colorado have increased 26.59 percent to 80,047 units.

In Canada, the Colorado recorded 626 deliveries in September 2016, an increase of just over 58 percent compared to September 2015. In the first nine months of the year, sales of the Colorado pickup totaled 4,561 units in Canada, an increase of 15.91 percent compared to the first nine months of 2015.

Good on you GM for leading the way (of North American Manufacturers) to bring back mid size trucks…just few years after all three decided there was not enough of a market…and tried to convince all truck buyers that we needed massive trucks. At least GM owned its error early…and Ford now due to make a comeback with Ranger too.

  2. I fear that it might be a little too late for Ford to enter this market. Yes the Colorado is selling well, but it hasn’t put much of a dent in Tacoma sales. Overall the car buying boom that the big 3 have been experiencing is slowly fading. I’m having a hard time believing that the Ranger will cause enough a stir to make it worth Ford’s while.

  3. I think that Silverado sales have taken a bit of a hit because of how good the Colorado is. I have a 2010 Silverado that I was seriously considering trading in on a Duramax Colorado until I decided I didn’t need a new truck quite yet. I bet a lot of others were in my shoes and made the move.

  4. Well it should be expected the 1/2 ton sales may have taken a little hit as I expect GM was intending to do this.

    The fact is half ton CAFE by 2025 is going to be very difficult to meet the government regulations. There is only so much weight they can cut and they can not kill anymore cylinders.

    The deal is now to get as many half ton buyers to the mid sized trucks and later on drive the true full size buyers into a 3/4 ton class as it has a better break on CAFE than i/2 ton.

    As for cutting into sales there is going to be little of that. Trucks for the most part are a very loyal brand kind of model. Few Toyota buyers will defect. GM is mostly going to catch some of their own buyers and bring back past Colorado/S10 buyers that really don’t need or want full size truck. Ford will do the same with the Ranger.

    The fact is the Ranger like the Colorado has been perfected over seas for a few years and was build to meet the US regulations from the start. It was a matter of timing and investment till it came here.

    There are a lot of Past Ranger owners Just waiting to buy a new smaller and less expensive truck.

    The real question is what will Ram do. There has been talk of a Unibody rehashed Fiat truck that could be coming that is more Honda Ridgeline than Colorado or Ranger. They also need to keep working to refresh the Ram Fullsize with a newer model as GM and Ford both are one gen up and they both have a next gen coming. FCA is still in need of a dance partner as they need to get their car lines refreshed too and someone who can supply a quality small car they could not do themselves.

    There was no error in the past the Mid size market was on the decline in profits and other models needed the investment. The time away just gave them time to get some other things done that make more money and then attack this in a better way.

    Lets face it the last Colorado was really a piece of crap. The last Ranger went so long with out a refresh it was not worth the price. Toyota only kept with it as they sold their trucks globally and adding them to out market was just add on sales even in a depressed mid size segment. They are the number one choice of ISIS you know. How many have you seen with machine guns and cannons mounted in the bed in the middle east?
