Buick Verano Sales Climb 65 Percent To 3,929 Units In September 2016

Buick Verano deliveries in the United States totaled 3,929 units in September 2016, an increase of 65 percent compared to the 2,377 units sold in September 2015. In the first nine months of 2016, Verano sales have increased by slightly less than 2 percent to 25,368 units.

In Canada, the Verano recorded 578 deliveries in September 2016, a decrease of 39 percent compared to September 2015. In the first nine months of the year, sales of the vehicle totaled 5,789 units in Canada, an increase of 17 percent compared to the first nine months of 2015.

The GM Authority Take
We believe that the 65 percent increase in Verano sales for the month was driven by an increase in fleet sales. To wit, Buick fleet sales grew 67.8 percent, or 1,504 units in September, which is very close to the 1,552-unit increase in Verano sales during the same time period.
2017 will be the last model year of the Verano, with Buick planning to discontinue the vehicle in North America, while launching an all-new, second-generation model in China. However, a high-performance GS variant of the second-gen Verano hatchback was recently spotted undergoing testing at GM’s Milford Proving Grounds, raising hopes that the second-gen Verano will, in fact, make it to North America after a slight hiatus.

I still think this is a situation of poor judgement by Buick to kill the Verano.
