The GM Authority Take
The drop in Buick LaCrosse sales volume can be explained by the production change-over for the all-new, third-generation Buick LaCrosse, resulting in low inventory levels of the now-discontinued second-gen model. This was also the scenario in August.
Since the all-new LaCrosse began arriving at dealers in the late August to September timeframe, we expect LaCrosse sales to remain depressed until production and inventory levels of the all-new model reach adequate levels to support true market demand.

The 2017 Lacrosse can not arrive soon enough.
New LaCrosse is a disappointment. Was hoping for a return of the full size Buick sedan but the new LaCrosse is pretty much like the old LaCrosse lengthwise. With the Avenir full size concept and rumors of Buick building something similar in size to the CT6 I was hoping to trade in my Lucerne on another full size Buick but it looks like that’s not going to happen.
No, new LaCrosse is not a disappointment by any means – it is just not fitting your personal taste/needs.
It feels like there would be no more “full size” Buick sedans (bigger than 2nd gen and 3rd gen LaCrosse) – maybe, ever.
So, if one really needs new “full size” sedan (no less than Lucerne), then one has to look elsewhere. There are plenty of other options on the market.
Not sure if the new LaCrosse launch commercial is helping solve this – the one that mentions ‘new Buick’ 3x and (finally) new LaCrosse once at the end.
the new Lacrosse still looks like an old persons jellybean and the exterior looks odd….the Lacrosse will be better off as a CUV/SUV….I see that large sedans are going away and the huge 225 inch long sedans will be long gone.
