2018 Chevrolet Equinox Launching In China For First Time

It seems Chevrolet has intentions to launch the all-new, 2018 Equinox compact crossover in the world’s largest auto market following its reveal in the U.S. General Motors China announced the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox will launch in China for the first time ever along with 115 other countries.

We don’t have many details surrounding which powertrains and equipment will be available for the Chinese market at this time. GM China mentioned each of the 2018 Equinox’s powertrains, but stated, “powertrain options for China will be announced at a later time.” It’s likely a safe bet we’ll see the 1.5-liter LFV turbocharged four-cylinder engine for China.

Regarding production, it’s also unclear if the 2018 Equinox will be assembled locally in China, or if it will be exported from the CAMI plant in Canada. 2018 Equinox production will remain in Canada, where it will be exported to the U.S., with the possibility of expanded assembly in Mexico if demand sees fit.

The 2018 Chevrolet Equinox will launch in the United States during the first quarter of 2017; a Chinese launch is slated for later next year.
