2018 C7 Corvette ZR1 Prototypes Caught With Some Fast Company: Video

There is a lot to cover with this latest sighting of 2018 C7 Corvette ZR1 prototypes. The good people at Corvette Blogger snapped spy photos and recorded video of the Corvette ZR1 prototypes leaving a fueling station in Marietta, Ohio, home to some excellent driving roads.

This time, though, the large rear spoiler returns at the rear of the Corvette ZR1. But, in this sighting, the Corvette team gave us our first look at a convertible variant, too. The proposed Corvette ZR1 convertible featured a different rear wing design, which sits shorter and sleeker than the coupe’s big wing.

However, much like previous sightings, these C7 Corvette ZR1 testers sport unique star-spoked wheels, blue brake calipers and revised aerodynamic design cues up front.

The C7 Corvette ZR1 seems to be in some pretty quick company as well. In the video above, the fleet of 2017 Corvette ZR1 prototypes can be seen exiting the gas station with a 2017 C7 Corvette Z06, Dodge Challenger Hellcat and Jaguar F-Type. The vehicles then parade off down the road in a distinct Corvette V8 soundtrack, possibly powered by a new LT5 V8 engine.

Along with a re-filing for the LT5 engine name with the USPTO, rumors peg this 2018 C7 Corvette ZR1 to make its debut at the 2017 North American International Auto Show. This will likely be the final Corvette variant before a mid-engine C8 Corvette shows face around 2019.

  1. No Upgraded LT4 SC V8 engine, I wonder if is going to be a DCT transmission for these C7 ZR1, because these 10 speed automatic is to long as I understand it, I wonder if these 2018 Camaro have a DCT transmission as well?

  2. But, then again I’ve come to realize that it just may be a SOHC TT small block LT5 V8 engine under the hood, at a smaller displacement (4.5-liter), the same engine that will be in the Zora C8 corvette. Because of how these intercoolers, are more up front and mounted on the car, there seams to be a opening on top of the hood, to let air in were it sticks up at, were these turbo’s are mounted inside the valley of the engine. I wonder to if there is a DCT in there s well.
