General Motors had previously stated it was merely studying the possibility of bringing the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV to South Korea, but GM Korea President and CEO, James Kim, finally announced it will arrive early next year.
“I am so pleased to announce that the game-changing Chevrolet Bolt EV will be launched in Korea in the first half of 2017. The Bolt EV truly embodies the ingenuity that is at the core of everything we do at Chevrolet,” Kim said.
According to WardsAuto, Kim made the comments during the Korea Electronics Show in Seoul, noting the 238-mile range is more than enough to travel from Seoul to Busan.
Local pricing and availability will be announced at a later date, according to Kim, when the 2017 Bolt EV is exported from the Orion assembly to South Korea. Despite many components and research and development done locally in Korea, the EV will not be assembled or sub-assembled in the country.
