In an interesting twist of events, it seems Chevrolet’s PHEV is a smidge quicker than its upcoming EV. Inside EVs broke down the acceleration and speed statistics, and the 2017 Chevrolet Volt is the acceleration champ by just a hair.
The information is interesting due to the fact the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV is lighter and has oodles of pure electric torque ready at the punch of the accelerator pedal. The 2017 Bolt EV will sprint to 30 mph in 2.9 seconds, while the 2017 Volt will clip 30 mph in 2.6 seconds.
It’s a marginal difference (and we don’t know many who race their electric vehicles minus our own Manoli Katakis), but the good news is the Bolt EV has been applauded on its superb driving dynamics thus far.
If you can’t wait, and want to be king of 30 mph, electric vehicle roll racing, take solace in knowing the 2017 Volt is also quicker than a Tesla Model S.
