Swedish Enthusiasts Brought A 1973 Opel Ascona To Drag Week 2016

This 1973 Opel Ascona is the little car that could. With a 540-cubic inch V8 under the hood and a beefy nitrous system, making 500-600 horsepower. And it came all the way from Europe to run an 8.03 quarter-mile at the 2016 Hot Rod Drag Week.
The owners, Magnus and Dennis, were interviewed by Hot Rod. They hail from Sweden, and after spectating the 2014 and 2015 Drag Week events, the fellas decided to join in on the fun with the aforementioned Ascona. The fun-sized Opel has been the winner of the Stockholm Open multiple times, once with its current owners and six times with the previous owner.
It’s a devilish little thing, and the guys claim that the biggest issue with the car is how hard it bites. If that’s the worst thing about a car, we’ll take it (though the Swedes had their complaints about the car’s drivability, but these issues are expected, and we don’t see them as faults – because racecar). Dennis said he had tuned the car so that it wouldn’t end up on its roof when launching from a dig, traction is no problem here.

It pushes around 500 HP extra from the nitrous alone if i remember correctly, not 5-600 in total.
That thing is a monster, and having had a chat with Dennis and Magnus in spring (2016) while they were scrambling for funds in order to get to drag week i can tell that they are amazing dudes.
BTW, you would like to spend some time in my home town. Saabs everywhere! might have to with the town being Trollhättan.
