The DeLorean DMC-12 is a cultural icon and has cemented itself into a weird, corner niche for many auto enthusiasts. Unfortunately, despite is pseudo time traveling capabilities, it was never that fast.
But, an LS swap will fix that. Regular Car Reviews had a chance to climb behind the wheel of this 5.3-liter LS4 swapped DeLorean DMC-12, complete with a manual gearbox. The original Renault gearbox, we might add.
And it’s apparently quite lovely, with the LS4 providing a ballpark of 300-plus hp to scoot the gull-winged icon around.
There’s a lot of engineering going on here to make this happen, so press play above to see how it all came together.

If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits 88 miles per hour, you’re gonna see some REAL serious s**t.
Ill bet that car is sweet! Just an editorial comment, the LS4 is a 5.3L engine used in the Impala SS, GrandPrix GXP and Lacrosse Super. It is a FWD engine mated to a 4T65E. It is a high revving small block for sure, and gutsy (translated torque steer monster!). 5.7 LS would be an LS1 or LS6.
5.7l LS4?
Hellooo. Anybody home? Think McFly…
