Buick’s most recent trademarking of the “Velite” name spurred rumors the brand was readying a convertible, not seen from the brand in decades. That vehicle became the 2016 Buick Cascada.
However, Buick isn’t letting the Velite name go to waste, which first appeared on the 2004 concept vehicle. Car News China has leaked images of the 2017 Buick Velite, literally a badge-swapped 2017 Chevrolet Volt. For reasons, you’ll have to head to the link here to see the photos.
The report states specifications will also be identical to the 2017 Volt, including its 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine and battery components.
Previously, the last-generation Volt was sold in China, but with an exorbitant price tag. The Buick Velite will reportedly be much less expensive, but official pricing will likely be forthcoming, along with an official reveal.

Perhaps the Buick logo will also help absorb the bigger sticker price. “It’s not an over-priced Chevy but a reasonably priced Buick.”
The report says it will be build in china, by gm- shanghai, joint venture.
Long overdue for GM to throw a knockout punch to toyota. They have played every trick in the book against our American company.
I like the real end. Buick tail lights make for a sharp tail feather.
Stop talking dirty. This is a family site.
It actually looks better than the Volt. Way better.
Just saw a picture of the Chevy Volt in Buick guise and it looks nice; but the article doesn’t say whether the interior has been changed as it might be interesting to see some familiar Buick touches.

What is the reasoning for GM not producing the Buick for the American market ?
It could be an alternative to the Volt but a little more luxury . I realise it wouldn’t be a huge seller with gas prices so low however Buick should still offer it so when gas prices go back up they have something to offer . Plus it could be built on the same assembly line as the Volt , having to import the model would cost to much .
