The Verizon IndyCar Series heads to one of America’s favorite racetracks this weekend, Watkins Glen International, for the 2016 IndyCar Grand Prix.
IndyCar is currently being dominated by two of its more experienced drivers, Team Penske’s Simon Pagenaud and Will Power. Pagenaud got off to an early lead in the driver’s championship, but Power has turned the wick up in the second half of the season and won four of the last seven races. Pagenaud leads Power by just 28 points.
In today’s first practice session, Power was third fastest, sitting behind Sebastien Bourdais in second and Scott Dixon in first, while Pagenaud went eighth fastest. Team Chevy cars dominated the session, with Graham Rahal the only Honda driver to find his way into the top ten.
You can catch the 2016 IndyCar Grand Prix on NBC Sports on Sunday, September 4th at 2:00 p.m. ET. The network will also carry qualifying, which is set to go green tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. ET. As usual, live timing and scoring will also be available via IndyCar.com.
