Alright Poncho fans, here’s your chance to own not one, but two pieces of Pontiac’s history. The very first two production Pontiac Firebirds are heading to auction at Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas and will be sold off as a pair, according to Maxim.
VIN 001 is a red convertible Pontiac Firebird, while VIN 002 is a silvery-gray coupe, both in superb condition. Both are also powered by Pontiac’s 326 cubic-inch V8 engine. The drop top houses a three-speed automatic gearbox, while the performance-oriented coupe features a four-speed manual on the floor. Hood mounted tachs are also present.
If you’re wondering where in the hell these vehicles have been their entire lives, they were discovered in a private collection before being identified as VIN 001 and 002. Both vehicles were used by General Motors and Pontiac for advertising and show car purposes before scurrying into the hands of various owners.
Barrett-Jackson will send the two vehicles off between October 13-15. Bring your wallet and a trailer.
