Corvette Racing’s No. 4 and No. 3 Corvette C7.Rs were fifth and seventh fastest in class in Practice 1 ahead of the 2016 Lonestar Le Mans at Circuit of the Americas.
The No. 4 Corvette C7.R, which is piloted by Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner, posted a fastest lap of 2:05.677 Thursday, putting them fifth in class. The No. 3 car driven by Jan Magnussen and Antonio Garcia, was less than a second off pace from its sister car with a time of 2:05.898.
The fastest GTLM car of the day was the No. 66 Ford GT of Joey Hand and Dirk Mueller with a time of 2:04.638. The Porsche North America 911 RSR of Patrik Pilet and Nick Tandy was second fastest with a lap of 2:04.913, while the No. 67 Ford GT of Richard Westbrook and Ryan Briscoe rounded out the top three with a lap of 2:05.002.
In Prototype, the Corvette Daytona Prototype of Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi was fastest after lapping COTA in 1:58.813. The Action Express sister car of Eric Curran and Dane Cameron was right behind them with a time of 1:58.813, followed by the Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette DP of Ricky and Jordan Taylor, which posted a fastest lap of 1:59.328.
Qualifying for the 2016 Lonestar Le Mans will kick off at 4:45 p.m. tonight. The green flag for the 2 hour, 40 minute race will come out at 12:35 p.m. on Saturday, September 16th.
