My mom was ready to buy one of these and trade in her current Cruze. She also hated the stop and start system.. When she found out that it cannot be turned off, she decided to outright buy out of her current lease and keep her 2013. The salesman we were working with told me that he feels GM made a mistake by not offering a shutoff switch.. He told me he lost out on 3 sales just that week because of it and this guy has been a Chevy salesman for many years.
The only way I am getting into a GM is if I can afford a Cadillac, since they offer the defeat switch. The new Lacrosse is now off my list because of it as well. There might be a time when i am forced to buy a new car with stop start that cannot be turned off, but as of now I still have choices that don’t force me into a car like that.
Pretty sure the manual cruze does not have it. There you go.
The story title says sales rise 52%. Those sales sure aren’t happening around my neck of the woods.
Wonder if the spike in sales of various slow-sellers (Cruze, Regal, Verano) might have something to do with a corresponding spike in fleet sales for those models … just when GM was weaning themselves off fleet sales … maybe it’s just a coincidence.
